I first started coding about ten years ago, when I started taking website design classes between chemotherapy treatments. It’s one of the reasons why I’m coming to this game so late in life. Then, life pulled me away from the tech field. About two years ago, John contacted me because he had a great idea to bring some new blood to the web development world. We started as a small group with a well-devised path to learning the skills we would need to become a great web developer. The original one-year timeline had to be stretched out a bit because life happened. John made sure he put the time in to not only do his everyday job but put in an hour of meeting time as a group and one on one for each of us. Gradually, it was down to mostly me and I was able to get more support and motivation to continue on, especially when I felt that I could not figure a piece of code or that I wanted to give up because it got difficult. With the support from those important to me I powered on and I feel satisfied with where I’m at.
